| So I was sitting, doing my APWH (that's ap world history for all of you intelligent people), eating my spaghettios, when I suddenly noticed--> they weren't the normal spaghettios!! They were the alphabet soup kind!! So I thought it'd be cute and fun to spell out some random words- 'duck', 'Christine', 'Jesus', 'couch', and 'manatee' are what I came up with. Oh, and obviously, 'love'. Which brings me to my next conclusion:
I think I'll take photography in college.

| Hey Wes...
This post is for Wes (the handsome boy on the left in my profile picture). You all can read it if you want, it's not personal. But it's going to be all about him... fair warning.
50 Things About Wesley James Atkinson You May Know (but probably not): (note: even numbers used for Christine's comfort.)
2. Wes has brown hair that was blonde when he was a baby. 4. Wes' favorite color is green. 6. He plays almost every brass instrument...maybe every one, and also plays clarinet, drums, and string bass (and electric bass and guitar).. piano too. 8. He was born on December 6, 1985. 10. His eyes are like the blue of the ocean... they're amazing. But don't look deeply into them- that's my job. 12. He's a very strong conservative republican (as am I). 14. Wes was born in Beaumont, Texas. 16. Most people need their coffee in the morning- Wes needs his chocolate milk. (I know! how cute!) 18. He has a younger sister named Hillary. 20. You guys, I don't know if you all realize how incredible our Lord is. I know I didn't until this last week.
I left for Reynosa, Mexico on March 18. I got back yesterday. While I was there, my life changed in so many ways. I went thinking that no real difference would be made at all.
We performed our drama 5 times: The first day, I gave my testimony- it was so nerve racking! We performed the drama and Blake 'brought in the net' (gave the salvation message). No one gave their life to Christ that day- as it turns out, more than half of the people watching the drama that day were already Christians. We still went out and played with the kids and prayed with them. The second day, we painted an entire church- inside and out. It was so hard. It started out a pinkish coral color. We primed it with white, then painted it light yellow. We had worship music on the whole time, and every now and then we all broke out in dance!! It was SO MUCH FUN! The third day, we performed our drama twice. The first time was at a soccer field in the middle of a neighborhood. Kaylee gave her testimony and Betty gave the salvation message. One little girl came up, then a few more kids, then a TON! The most moving part was when a 61 year old man came up to give his life to Christ. He was a diabetic, and he hated God for making him have his condition. He was sobbing and we were all hugging him and praying with him. It was incredible. I don't think a single eye was dry in my group when we left. The second drama we did that day was in the city dump. Yes, IN the ACTUAL dump. People ACTUALLY lived there. It was horrible. Dead horses on the side of the road, dogs everywhere that probably had rabies and many other diseases, piles upon piles upon piles of trash, sewage, and other gross things. We found a field that had a minimal amount of trash in it and gathered kids. They were so adorable! There was one little boy who latched himself to me the whole time. Joe gave his testimony, and Blake brought in the net again. One little girl tapped me on the shoulder and pointed up at Blake, suggesting she wanted to go up there. I went up with her, and she gave her life to Christ. About 6 or 7 kids did so that day. It was so amazing. I was bawling, along with all the other people in my group. The fourth day, we went back to the mission church we had painted the other day. We finished with touch-ups, filling the cracks, etc. Another church needed to be painted too. It was located in the dump area. Painting it was a little more difficult than the other church because it was taller, it was located in the dump, and the Mexican children in that area kept trying to touch the girls in my group. It was gross, but we stayed safe. The fifth day, we performed our drama twice. It was raining and kinda chilly, so we decided to do it in the mission church we painted the second day. Gathering the kids to watch the drama was hard... many of the roads were made of dirt, and it was raining. The result was messy. We were doing pretty well until we got to a certain intersection that was completely flooded. A station wagon was driving through it, and offered my group a ride through. It was so awesome!! 5 people (including me) got on the back of it, and about 6 girls got on the hood. She drove us through and then prayed with us. It was incredibly cool. Gabriel, who is fluent in Spanish, helped us translate all week. He's awesome.
We went shopping for about an hour and a half, then went to South Padre on Friday. My dad met us down there. It was great. I was changed so much last week. I learned that worship is a LIFESTYLE, not a guitar with a bunch of people singing. I learned that God can be seen everywhere. I learned that certain people are no more deserving of anything than other people are. I'm slowly learning how to see everyone through Christ's eyes.
I AM SO IN LOVE WITH JESUS! I love you all!! Christine*

| I'm leaving for Mexico in about TEN MINUTES!! I AM SO EXCITED!!! please pray for me and my youth group's safety for the next week. I get back next Saturday. I'm so excited to see what God's going to be doing down there!!!
I love you all! Christine*
"All authority hath been given unto me in heaven and on earth. Go ye therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit: teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I commanded you: and lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world” - Matthew 28:18-20 | | |
| a month later: I still love life! tonight was the chili supper for the high school and 8th graders to listen to the jazz band. It was really cool. Calvin, Mike, and Derek all had solos. They were all really well-played. My solo is coming along really well- Ingrod (lesson teacher) said it was 500x better since I played it last week. My mom said it almost made her cry because it was so pretty. . Anyway, I gotta go now to do my Latin studying... ughhh!
I love you all! Christine*
